Some background info, i'm not really good at baking, and i only bake 2 to 3 times a year. There you go, sharing my first attempt on making a rainbow cake. Went to the nearby Sembawang shopping centre's Giant and Daiso to get all the ingredients. Bought this really cute mini kitchen scale at Daiso!! ❤ 

Did some research online and i found this really  lazy  easy and diet friendly cake recipe. So simple that you only need a can of soda and those off the shelf cake mix. According to online, the cake should taste great like any normal cake does. 

After adding all the individual color dyes into the separated batters.

I had a small oven, so i have to bake two layers at a time. 

Baked result of first batch. A little dry or over baked, thus cracked.

Met up with one of my poly friends few weeks back, he is now the boss of Ireland's Potato at Bugis +. So we arranged for a catch up over lunch and he intro me to the next door eatery - Poulet. Its an authentic French cuisine restaurant. 

I ordered their specialty - Baked chicken (1/2 portion). The chicken is quite tender served in this french mushroom creamy sweet white sauce. It taste really good, just that i can't finish the portion. My friend, JJ ordered their sandwich, and let me try some. The croissant is damn crispy and filled with buttery smell. Its different from those selling outside at our usual bakery stores. We also ordered the french onion soup too. Hmm... quite alright, normal i guess so there's nothing to complain. =x

After that it's dessert time!!! I ordered - "Apple pie with ice cream" (forgot it's name). I love the apples slices, cause i'm an apple person, hahah. Anyway i never really fancy pastry crust, so i only ate a bit.

JJ ordered their specialty dessert - ❤ Tiramisu ❤  Thumbs up!

Oh this is heavenly, very soft and rich with rum taste! Awesome! It's served in a big jar and i like the concept. Because of the jar, i personally think that the serving is considered big.

Given that it's authentic French food, i would say the pricing is very reasonable. I will definitely be back for more, especially for the Tiramisu. Would want to try more of their other dishes too. Oh i recently spotted their 2nd outlet at Great World city too! 

When i heard that there's salted egg flavored fries around, i tell myself i must go try it for myself! Who don't like salted egg flavor right? Anyway, so i tagged along a friend who drives so that we can get to this cafe easier. Its located along Upp Thomson road, further up from the famous Casuarina Prata. It was a weekday night so it was kind of quiet and empty, only had three tables of customers there. 

However i like that they have outdoor alfresco style seats, that's why they allow pets! YAY~  That night was chilly so i ended up taking the outdoor table. It was hard getting the stuff's attention as we are separated by a (rather sound proof) sliding door, as you can see below.

The "breakfast alike' salad (forgot it's name)

A tad too unhealthy for a salad, in my opinion. Fried bacon, chicken, scrambled eggs with cherry tomatoes and lettuce.

Must Try! Its really cripsy and tasty when it's hot. Finish this first before you touch other food.

SALTED EGG Chips Fries!

The fries is just mediocre, nothing fantastic except for the sauce. I would prefer if they had serve the sauce in a separate saucer rather than pouring it all over and getting the fries all soggy.

Fried ice cream - Mango

There's a few flavors so i opt for the mango one, its not bad cause it's those better quality sorbet type of ice cream. The fried layer is actuallymade of bread. Didn't really like the bread layer, felt like it adsorbed too much oil and it's unhealthy.

 I am a little disappointed with their serving stuff though. One is kinda slow and lost, and the other lied. Firstly the slow auntie heard my order wrongly and i have to correct her. In the end they still served me the wrong stuff. I wanted chips instead of fries! The lady heard wrongly again. Never mind, when i asked if they can change it for me, the other guy quickly answered there's no chips served there anymore. After the guy left, the lady added on that because their main chef left and a new china man took over many things on their menu is not selling anymore. Ok fair enough, but you don't tell me that your whole shop got no chips because chips are just instant food, your chef don't need to prepare it at all. Kinda pissed with that. 

Overall, a nice place for chillout i guess especially since it opens till 2am. :)
